In 1914 both parishes, St. Mary and St. John had their own schools. St. Mary's School was located next to the church and had grades preschool to sixth grade. St. John's School, which is still standing, was located next to the church office and had grades preschool to eighth. It later moved down to sixth. The two schools consolidated to form Defiance Catholic School in 2005. St. Mary' building was used for grade third to sixth, and St. John's building was used for Preschool to second. Then in 2009 the schools joined at the location we are today. The chapel broke ground in 2011 and was dedicated in 2012.
