I graduated from Hillsdale College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary
Education in 1981. I began volunteering in the Kindergarten class for Lois Hench
in 1986 at St. John Catholic School. The following year, I was hired as the new
Kindergarten teacher at St. John's. I have been teaching Kindergarten ever since.
There have been many changes since I first began my journey at St. John Catholic
School. In 2005, St. John's closed their doors. In the fall of 2005, Defiance Catholic
School started as St. John's and St. Mary's became one, occupying both buildings under
one new name. After 5 years as Defiance Catholic School, yet another change took place.
With another new name, Holy Cross Catholic School began and our school is now in one
new beautiful building, all under one roof and enjoying every day of our new school! As
young as Kindergarten, I feel the children learn a special connection with Jesus and that
increases with each passing day. It sets up the framework for a bright future and teaches
children to set their morals high at school, at home and at church.
